What is FOIP?
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) applies to public bodies. This includes all provincial government departments, agencies, boards and commissions. It also includes local public bodies such as municipalities, universities, school boards, among many others.

Making an Access RequestYou must submit your access request directly to the organization that you believe has custody or control of the records you are seeking. Organization means public body, custodian or private sector organization under FOIP, PIPA or HIA. Detailed information on making an access request is available in Access to Records.
