Service Areas
RTDRS is available in Edmonton, Calgary, Northern and Central Alberta.
Northern Alberta service locations include all that area of the Province of Alberta that lies to the north of Highway 16 commencing at the Alberta-British Columbia boundary to the junction of Highway 16 and Highway 22; east of Highway 22 to the junction of Highway 22 and Highway 13; north of Highway 13 to the junction of Highway 13 and Highway 36; west of Highway 36 to the junction of Highway 36 and Highway 16; and north of Highway 16 to the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary (Fourth Meridian).
Without restricting the above, the entire communities of Municipality of Jasper, The Town of Hinton, Town of Edson, The City of Wetaskiwin, City of Camrose, Town of Killam, Town of Viking, Village of Kitscoty and the City of Lloydminster, Alberta that are intersected by any of the above highways, are also included in the region.
Central Alberta service locations include all the area in the Province of Alberta that lies north of a boundary commencing at the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 93; thence east along Highway 11 to its junction with Highway 22; thence south along Highway 22 to its junction with Highway 543; thence east along Highway 543 to its junction with Highway 2; thence from the junction of Highway 2 east along Highway 23 to its junction with Highway 24; thence north along Highway 24 to its junction with Highway 1; thence east along Highway 1 to its junction with Highway 36; thence north along Highway 36 to its junction with Highway 9; thence east along Highway 9 to its intersection with the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Thisall that area of the Province of Alberta within the boundaries of the following communities that are intersected by the boundary described in section 1, Saskatchewan River Crossing; The Hamlet of Nordegg; The Town of Rocky Mountain House; The Village of Caroline; The Town of Sundre; The Village of Cremona; The Town of Cochrane; The Hamlet of Bragg Creek; The Hamlet of Priddis; The Hamlet of Millarville; The Town of Turner Valley; The Town of Black Diamond; The Town of High River;The Hamlet of Mossleigh; The Town of Strathmore; The Town of Bassano; The Hamlet of Richdale; The Village of Youngstown; The Village of Cereal; The Hamlet of Sibbald
and The Hamlet of Alsask, Alberta.

The Fort McMurray area will be conducting hearings by way of video conferencing from Tenancy Dispute Officers based in the Edmonton and Calgary office. Hearings will be held in the offices of “Community Futures Wood Buffalo”- 9816 Hardin Street, Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The remainder of the designated areas (Northern and Central Alberta) will have hearings conducted by way of telephone conference. Parties will be contacted by Tenancy Dispute Officers instead of appearing in person. The call will take place on the date and time that is pre-booked with the RTDRS and specified on the Notice of Hearing form. Both parties and the Tenancy Dispute Officer will be online at the same time. The hearing will be recorded.

If the premises in question is in Northern or Central Alberta, you may file your application with the RTDRS by fax. Where the RTDRS deems that in-person filings are a hardship other options may be available. For more information, please contact the RTDRS at toll free 310-0000, then 780-644-3000.
Fax Instructions
- Complete the appropriate application form. Landlords use the Landlord’s Application for Termination of Tenancy and Rental Arrears (pdf) or Landlord’s Application for Damages (pdf). Tenant’s use the Tenant’s Application (pdf). Follow the Instructions to Landlord or Tenant attached to the application forms.

Provide all the information that the forms require. We ask for your credit card number and the expiry date. This is the only way you can pay the filing fee when you fax an application. Both MasterCard and Visa are accepted. We keep your credit card information safe and confidential. You must attach the Fax Filing Payment Form (pdf) when faxing your application form to the RTDRS.

Check that you have properly completed the application form. Fax the application form and your supporting documents to the RTDRS. Use the correct fax number from the following list:
• If the rental property is in Northern Alberta, fax to 780-644-2266.
• If the rental property is in Central or Southern Alberta, fax to 403-476-4904. -
The RTDRS will fax the application package back to you at the fax number you provide on the application form. You will receive a Notice of Hearing form that gives the date, time and location of the hearing. The filed application form and evidence, plus the Notice of Hearing are called the “application package.”

You must give a copy of the entire filed application package to all respondents named on the Notice of Hearing form. You must complete an Affidavit of Service after you have given the application package to each respondent. See our information sheet How to Serve RTDRS Documents (pdf) for complete instructions.

You must attend the hearing at the date and time written on the Notice of Hearing form.
