Outstanding Customer Service Awards

The Outstanding Customer Service Awards are intended to promote excellence, best practice and innovation in customer service by providing recognition. This award recognizes and honours outstanding customer service professionals, and highlights their vital importance in fulfilling Service Alberta’s mandate.

Who can be nominated for an award?

Any Service Alberta employee or team of employees may be recommended by an internal APS client (including agencies, boards and commissions) or an external (public) client.  The nominator must be outside the immediate work group of the individual or group being nominated.

Nomination Criteria

The individual or group award recipient(s) will have created a memorable experience for the customer by demonstrating one or more of the following four elements of the APS Service Excellence Framework:
  • Building Commitment – going the extra mile and demonstrating pride in work, and/or demonstrating leadership and accountability

  • Enhancing Capacity – utilizing innovation and flexibility to provide superior client service, training or mentoring, and/or developing service partnerships

  • Efficient Delivery – client involvement, developing service standards to evaluate Service Excellence

  • Communicating Effectively – politely and diplomatically setting clear service expectations, providing consistent and accurate information to the client, volunteering value- added services/information, and/or keeping clients apprised of waiting times for provision of service 

How do I nominate a Service Alberta employee/group?

Complete and submit an Award Recommendation Form (pdf). There are two ways to submit your recommendation:

  1. Send as an email attachment to SA.HR@gov.ab.ca, or

  2. Print the form and send it in a sealed envelope marked "confidential" to:

All recommendations are reviewed by the Employee Recognition Committee and must be received by March 31, 2011.
